What PT3 Covers
PT3 disinfectants are biocidal products regulated under the UK GB BPR for veterinary hygiene purposes. They are used to disinfect areas where animals are housed, kept, or transported - including veterinary clinics, farms, livestock housing, and animal transport vehicles.
PT3 does not cover dosing the water that animals drink: disinfection of drinking water for humans and animals is product type 5 (PT5). Cleaning and disinfecting emptied drinking lines, nipples, drinkers and other equipment between batches, followed by flushing before animals return, is a veterinary hygiene use where the product's authorisation and label permit it.
