The Environmental Policy of Spa Trade Group Limited ("the Company") is to ensure so far as it is reasonably practicable that its operations will be carried out with a commitment to protecting and enhancing the environment.
As an office we know that we generate wastepaper products. However, as we strive for excellence in every aspect of our business we are committed to minimising the environmental impacts of the business operation.
1. Our Stated Aims
1.1 Aim to continuously improve our environmental performance particularly with regards to our recycling and re-use of paper.
1.2 Where possible we will use recycled or ecologically friendly paper.
1.3 We will use 'waste' paper for notepads unless confidentiality may be compromised.
1.4 Reduce our consumption of resources and improve the efficiency of those resources by printing double sided where practicable.
1.5 Manage waste generated from my business operations according to the principles of reduction, re-use and recycling.
1.6 Recycle all paper products, ink or toner cartridges.
1.7 Comply as a minimum with all relevant environmental legislation as well as other environmental requirements.
2. Product Environmental Benefits
Beyond our office operations, ChloroKlean's chlorine dioxide products offer significant environmental advantages compared to traditional disinfection chemicals used across the water treatment, healthcare, food processing, and agricultural sectors.
Reduced chemical consumption: ChloroKlean's regenerative chlorine dioxide technology can reduce overall chemical usage by up to 99% compared to conventional biocide treatments, as demonstrated in independent case studies across industrial water systems, poultry processing, and paper manufacturing.
No harmful by-products: Unlike traditional chlorine, chlorine dioxide does not produce trihalomethanes (THMs), chloramines, or other halogenated disinfection by-products. This means cleaner wastewater discharge and reduced environmental contamination from water treatment processes.
Lower carbon footprint: Because chlorine dioxide is more effective at lower concentrations and does not require frequent system flushing, it reduces water waste, energy consumption from heating, and transport emissions from fewer chemical deliveries. Our liquid formulation eliminates the need for on-site generators, further reducing energy requirements.
BPR environmental assessment: All ChloroKlean products undergo rigorous environmental risk assessment as part of the UK GB BPR and EU BPR 528/2012 authorisation process. This includes evaluation of environmental fate, ecotoxicity, and bioaccumulation potential, ensuring our products meet stringent environmental safety standards before reaching the market.
Reduced water waste: Effective biofilm control means water systems require less frequent draining and refilling. In cooling tower applications, improved water quality can reduce blowdown rates, conserving significant volumes of water annually. In one case study, a biogas upgrading plant extended cleaning intervals from 6 weeks to 4 months after switching to ChloroKlean.
This Environmental Policy Statement will be regularly reviewed and updated as necessary. The management team endorses these policy statements and is fully committed to their implementation.
